Garage door repair from a local team that picks up the phone

When your garage door stops working, you want a straight answer and a fix, not a call center or a long wait. Gateway Garage Doors is based on Delmar Blvd in St. Louis. When you call (314) 766-4292, you reach our local team.

We repair doors that will not open, will not close, reverse before touching the floor, sit crooked, make grinding noises or hang halfway. We start by finding the cause, then tell you the price before we begin. Our pricing is flat-rate, so the number you hear is the number you pay for that job. Most repairs are completed in a single visit, and the same technician handles your job from quote to finish.

We work on residential garage doors and openers from many brands, including Clopay, Amarr, C.H.I. Overhead Doors, Wayne Dalton, Raynor, Overhead Door, Windsor Door, LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Sommer, Marantec, Ryobi, Linear and Stanley. We service and install these brands and are not affiliated with any manufacturer.

Current offer: take $50 off your first garage door repair or service call. This offer ends December 19, 2026. We are also offering free estimates on new garage door installation through the same date. Mention the offer when you call.

Garage door repair questions

Why does my garage door reverse before it closes?

This is usually the safety sensors. Check that both sensors near the floor are clean, pointed at each other and free of obstructions, and that the indicator lights are steady. If the door still reverses, the opener's limit settings may need adjusting. Call us if it keeps happening.

My garage door won't open or is stuck halfway. What should I do?

Stay clear of the door and do not force it. Check that the opener has power and that the door is not locked. Do not try to lift a heavy door by hand if you suspect a broken spring or cable. Call (314) 766-4292 and we will help you work out the safest next step.

What are the signs of a broken spring?

A loud bang from the garage, a visible gap in the torsion spring above the door, or a door that feels very heavy to lift by hand are common signs. Stop using the door and call us.

Can I replace a torsion spring myself?

We do not recommend it. Torsion springs are under high tension and can cause serious injury. Torsion springs sit on a bar above the door, while extension springs run along the side tracks. Both are best handled by a trained technician.

How much does garage door repair cost?

It depends on the problem, the parts and the door. We use flat-rate pricing and tell you the price before we start. You can also take $50 off your first repair or service call through December 19, 2026.

Should I repair or replace my garage door?

If the damage is limited to a spring, cable, roller or a panel, repair is usually enough. If several sections are damaged or the door keeps failing, replacement may make more sense. We will tell you honestly which fits your situation.

My opener hums or clicks but the door does not move. Why?

This often points to a broken spring, a stuck door or a worn opener part. Your opener's blinking light codes can also help narrow it down, whether it is a LiftMaster, Chamberlain or Genie. We can diagnose it on site.

Why is my garage door loud or grinding?

Worn rollers, dry hinges and loose hardware are common causes. A maintenance visit and new rollers can often quiet the door.

My door came off the track. Can I keep using it?

No. Stop using the door, because forcing it can bend the track or damage panels and cables. Call us to put it back safely.

Do you offer emergency garage door service?

Yes. Emergency garage door service is available after hours. Call us any time, including nights, weekends and holidays.

When are you open?

We are open 7 days: Monday to Thursday 7 AM to 7:30 PM, Friday 7 AM to 7 PM, and Saturday and Sunday 7 AM to 7:30 PM.
